You'll be able to see which members of the forum live near you, which may come in useful if you want a fellow head scratcher when trying to decide on what size tyres to fit to your landy, or pin pointing where that rattle is coming from;) If you're really lucky, you may have regional meet ups or laning days you can get involved with!

Hi, Just joined the forum, I am planning my first freelander, some where in the 2005/6 region and will be taking a look through some of the posts to see what to look out for. Any help will be much appreciated.

hi there just joined the forum after it was great help in getting my first defender 90 on the road.
Im based in northern ireland and have always loved landrovers and tinkering around with cars and bikes .i work on a farm
I am looking to Convert my truck cab to a hardtop but having trouble locating sides and a roof if anyone is interested in swapping a roll bar and truck cab

Hey Peeps I am new to the forum and to Land Rovers and I live in South Birmingham I am looking for a quality Mechanic to help me sort out the head gasket on my Disco 2 td5. Can anyone recommend such a person?
 
Hi all, New to Land Rovers but already loving it.
I used to (still have a lot of love for them) be a Volvo guy, but circumstances had me buy a Disco2 TD5 '98 and I am hooked.

Live in the Isle of Man which has a 4x4 forum, but not specific Land Rover. And wouldn't mind the more specific and bigger group of like minded people.

Already found a lot of useful stuff on here before I joined, so thanks for that.

Welcome to the looneyzone,

You have a fellow Manx or two on here, one of them is @Shimsteriom . He also has a D2.

Hope you have the RAVE manual, EKA code, a friend with diagnostics.

Already leaving me with questionmarks haha. I'll google for more info, but RAVE manual and EKA code???
No access to diagnostics really, but if anyone is offering.... :)

Nice motors the D2 TD5.

Just a couple of things you may find useful.
Download the RAVE manual, it has the workshop and owners manuals in them.

Try and see if you can find a friend or make a new one with the nanocom / hawkeye/ lynx that works on the D2 , you may need their help at some point.

Ref the EKA code, have a read of the attachment named alarms in this link.

Have you been out for a lane run with the local 4x4 club yet?
 
I used to be a member years ago when I had a D1 and did some quite heavy off-roading, but when I sold that, I lost touch with the group itself. I've been meaning to go on a lane run with them since getting the D2, but it's had a couple of issues which I've almost fixed, so would be more than happy to tag along with you if you do decide to go on a lane run with them.
Also, as Neilly said, you need to get your EKA code, which I can help you with as I have a diagnostics unit which will work with any D2. If you check through your paperwork, you might find that the PO has written it down somewhere on it. Sorry, the EKA is the Emergency Key Access code and can be used to get in and start the car if the batteries go dead in your key fobs, and the ECU hasn't been configured to disarm the alarm / immobiliser using only the key itself.

I will spend some time and money on mine first. I need to see how rotten she is before I take her on heavy duty and spoil everyone's day by falling apart halfway in haha.
But I will definitely try and do that this summer.

The purchase was fast and easy with next to no papeework privately.
I knew I wasn't buying a new car, and didn't pay for perfection either. So your help with the EKA would be great thanks!
I did already had to get my radio code online haha.

As mine is still a daily use car, I wouldn't use it for anything serious at the moment, but the club does Shiny Lanes for those of us who'd like to do some off-roading, but don't really want to cause any damage to the car. I'm free most weekends, and work in Douglas, so just let me know when you want to get your EKA code and I'll drop by.

That definitely sounds like the option for me, as mine is for daily use mostly as well. I've seen some cheap options in the UK as well, so might get one as spare

I'm not sure yet, but how are you set for tomorrow?
