Refurbed Defender doors

Got my blue Defender 110 with doors in a sorry state. I was looking on ebay and some second hand doors are basically price of new; occasionally you see a bargain in the £150 region but they all have rust.

Then I saw an ad for Donor Defender UK they refurb the doors and rebuild them and I can't quite believe the price but all 4 doors rebuilt and painted in correct colour (without decals, internal door cards, handles, locks) for about a £grand.

I realise the colour wont match (it would be the only bit in fresh paint), but that's a great price - has anyone used them before and can share experiences?

My land rover bloke reckons it will cost more than that to refurb my own doors, although obviously the colour would then match unless the skin cracks at the edges it will need some finishing.

on my 90 I need to do something with the doors, and am in the same situation as you. Currently I'm debating between getting the frames out, fixing and then galving and then either replacing the old skins and repainting (and probably some checker plate at bottom to cover the bi metalic corrosion) or buying new skins.

Skins are about £90, so it's still a significant amount of money, but now quite as bad as buying complete doors on ebay.

Other thing I've considered is changing to the series style doors. Again, company on ebay selling either just the bottoms (for you to then go and source the locks, tops, glass etc) or complete kits.

I prefer the look.

I thought about a set of SP new doors but with paint as well it comes to > £400 per door and I need 4 of them so the refurbed doors all in for £1000 ish seems worthwhile consideration.

Series doors on a 92 defender 110 CSW would in my opinion hit the resale value, and this is staying standard as I have my 89 110 project for modifying.

If you add up repair sections and new skins plus paint it must come to close on £200/door, perhaps that answers my original question, can all four for a grand be any good?!

I purchased new skins from SP £90 each
luckily the passenger door was good so that has been blasted and galved
although the drivers door was kippered so i got a refurbished frame off ebay £150
but then i still have to paint them along with the rest of the vehicle

so when you look at £1k for all 4 doors refurbished and painted that aint bad at all
