Is there a special way to fix the two rear mounting bolts?

Was considering putting another nut on whilst I can get at them with the tank off.

The two rear fixing bolts come from inside the rear cross member but are not fixed and I can't get at the heads once the tank is on. I was toying with the idea of permanently fixing them so it doesn't take 4hrs to take the tank off!

So presuming a 110 then. if ya dunt state model no one know which tank as they're all different. I suppose you could drop the bolts down thru the craossmember and weld them in place. then lift tank up to meet them.

Sorry Red, didn't know they are all different. 110 csw 1988.

Had thought about welding them up - what is the factory method?

Aye 90 tank is under drivers seat.

On the 110 & 130'a theres 2 studs on the tank and a bracket with a single bolt thru it.one 1 side and 2 bolts with a square plate attached that pass thru the tank on the other

Here's a photie of the two studs at the rear cross member....

The front two are just bolts that fit through the bracket on chassis and fuel tank. Looks like there seems to be a square lockin' nut on there.

Hmmm, ah thought ah did a how to on doin' the tank.... must've forgot!
Oh well, maybe ah'm just spoutin' crap:rolleyes::D

Just checked on the replacement crossmember to see if it came with the studs or not......

... and it doesn't. Ah'd just stick a bolt through and get a couple of them square nuts;)

Sorted,

Mine are missing those square nuts - one of the previous owners had used wire to lock them off, which promptly snapped this morning. 4hrs later they were undone!

I'll put a nut on them now.

Took the opportunity to clean the chassis - couple of bits need welding (mates coming around in two weeks with his welding kit) - and hammerited it. The rebuild has started............

Aye ah took the chance to clean everything up and paint it all when the tank was out mesel'. Luckilly there wasn't any welding to be done:D

There is a bit of welding to be done but it's underneath the 2nd row floor. Also two of the floor support cross pieces were knackered - then again so was the aluminium floor.

Just need this cold weather to f*kc off so we can get on with the spraying again.

The TD5 bulkhead is now ready for spraying - thanks for the help Bustersbus.

Did ye end up doin' any mods to the bulkhead mate.... like mountin' the fuel filter housin', blankin' off the big hole in the passenger footwell amongst a couple of other things?

Not really mate, the gear box tunnel lined up with the TD one perfectly. Had to fit two rivnuts for the fuel pump and decided to seperate the wiring rather than drill the 30mm hole. Also, as it came complete with dash and wipers, the old ones will not be getting used.

Bonus.....
