Hello there,

I'm hoping to get some advice please. I have inherited a Kalahari TD4 '53 plate Freelander 1 and need to get some issues sorted on it.

The lens on the rear bumper indicator light got broken and I was looking to replace it. It's a white/red unit with an orange indicator bulb. As they are about 2x the price of the orange/red ones and I'm quite skint at the mo, I was wondering if it is possible to use orange/red instead as a replacement?

Visually, other than colour, I can see no difference. Has anyone ever done this?

Thanks in anticipation,

Liz

Yes they are a direct swap. The red/orange was in use up to MY01. These cars are now over 17 years old, so sales will be slow. This is why prices are lower on these old light units. The red/clear are a popular updated for pre 2001 cars, keeping demand and prices high.

Thanks guys, good to know! I have no doubt I'll be back when another bit falls off/breaks/whatever! :)

Check Your local breakers or people on gumtree. I found a guy on gumtree stripping a 2002 freelander. Got full set of rear bottom white/red lights with guards and top guards for £20 all in. Missed fronts because it only had one on... bugger....looking to find front light guards but they are expensive. Make sure if fitting guards to take screws for top rear guards as they are different to normal ones.

Cheers for that pointer. I managed to get one for £15 on eBay. Will hopefully be able to get it fitted this weekend if it's not peeing down!
