Rectifier should be changed ?

Hi Everybody

I have a V8 3L9 RR.

The battery light is on even when ignition switched off and key out.

Could it be something else than the rectifier ?

How could i check the rectifier ?

The alternator is a Lucas, without ID label. I just have the reference number carved on the rectifier. I contacted Lucas about it without success.
Is it a place to order with only this information ?

Try disconnecting the alternator and see if the light goes out as you may have a short in the wiring. Either with a short in the wiring to the alternator or a diode pack failure the light should go out with the ignition off so I would suggest your problem is not the rectifier. Have you checked with the engine runing to see if the alternator is charging the battery?
