Hi all,

Firstly please permit me to introduce myself - I'm in Tayside with a mostly working 110, 2 none working motorbikes, one tolerant partner, one active 3 year old, a time sapping baby, and a workshop that my partner uses as our kitchen.

Many thanks to all for the great wealth of info on this forum - I've solved many problems after following threads - although often as a guest as I'm not brilliant at remembering passwords. The forum also makes for great reading from the many "characters" on here with their viewpoints.

LT77

If there is a thread that already covers my issue, please forgive me - I'm incredibly time-tied with the baby and haven't had time to go through absolutely everything.

I have an recon LT77 sourced & fitted by local landy independent speacialist. Cost best part of £1000.

After 7 months it gave difficulty engaging & changing up/down into 2nd. Sometimes into 1st and 3rd. Problem most pronounced when gearbox is cold. Dexron 2 ATF in gearbox.

Now at 11 months, the problem persists, but it now also sounds like an electric milk-float with a continual mid to high pitched drone in all gears but 4th (direct drive gear?). When stationary in neutral, drone still present but disappears when clutch pedal pressed.

I've had the clutch master/slave replaced, but this has not solved the issue.

I've not had the opportunity to get back to the independent who replaced the gearbox, and may also be taking legal action against them for other matters. I'd rather go to them on the gearbox issue with some sound advice/knowledge on what the gearbox issue is most likely to be, else they try to fob me off.

I've read some of the threads that pertain to similar problems (ATF v's MTF etc), but can't believe that a replacement recon gearbox should exhibit these problems.

Many thanks to all.
Cheers, ian
