Right here we go then.....
CABLES IN FROM LOOM
So first we need to consider the cables in from the different looms. The pre 2002 (shown here as 1994) loom uses a positive switch to control the wiper motor and also controls the park switch away from the door. The 2002 loom does this using a negative switch and a relay in the door. There is a distinct advantage in the 2002 way of doing things in that the actual on/off switch to the rear motor can be a simple toggle switch (you can still use the dedicated switch but you could also use a toggle switch in a new dash).
Anyway, this is how the two looms differ:
2002 __________________________1994
Green&White_ = __Ignition Live___ = Green
Black_______ = ____Ground_____ = Black
Black&Green_ = __Switched NEG__
___________ = ___Switch LIVE___ = Red/Light Green
Brown/Light Green - This is the live from park switch to rear wiper switch, this can be just insulated this as not needed anymore.
Connections within the door in relation to the motor
There are two plugs, a 2 pin and a 3 pin plug plus there is a relay. I am using the landrover pin numbers and plug types in the following with the relay using industry standard numbers.
3 pin plug C1105
- pin 1 - Brown/Light Green to Relay C0124 (pin 87a)
- pin 2 - Green/White to Relay C0124 (pin 87) to <LOOM IN> Green (Ignition Live) ** note connects to 3 places **
- pin 3 - Black to <LOOM IN> GROUND
2 pin plug C0388
- pin 1 - Black to <LOOM IN> GROUND
- pin 2 - Red/Light Green to Relay C0124 (pin 30)
Relay C0124 (standard automotive 5 pin relay)
- pin 30 - Red/Light Green to 2 pin plug C0388 (pin 2)
- pin 87 - Green/White to 3 pin plug C1105 (pin 2)
- pin 87a - Brown/Light Green to 3 pin plug C1105 (pin 1)
- pin 85 - Black to <LOOM IN> GROUND
- pin 86 - Red/Light Green to <LOOM IN> Red/Light Green (Switch Live)
If you look at this lot in conjunction with the diagram that Paul uploaded you will be able to see how things differ.
