Freelander 1 Rear window won't close

Hi everyone.
Just opened 2001 TD4, then rear window slowly powered itself fully down when I opened the tailgate. It now refuses to close
The battery was pretty flat, so I hooked battery up with jump leads to my daily driver F1.
BUT, all electrics will work...windows, lights, radio etc., EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE REAR WINDOW SHUTTING!!!!
Advice required ASAP please, as I'm going into hospital for an emergency tooth extraction that the dentist couldn't extract. The car is at the boatyard, so I need to close the window before the car gets trashed by the local idiots...
On the positive side, I just managed to get it to turn over for the first time since I bought it...but only when connected by jump leads.
Much more hopeful than when I last tried it!

Presumably you disconnected the battery to reset everything, then reconnected.

I'm very wary of jump starting "modern" cars - lots of electrics to fry. Always prefer charging the battery up.

When I have to though, I can never remember the safest sequence of lead connection and starting - so google it each time.

If its the same battery, I would try recharging it. I have found a low or bad battery can mess up electronics. Back window is controlled electronically, eg the drop 10mm when you open the door..
Had a celica, with a bad battery, but would start, caused window to go down when you indicated...tried another good battery, no problem...weird....

Actually no. I just ran jump leads from my running TD4 for about 15mins or so to dump some juice into the battery.
After that, I tried to raise the window but, upon shutting, it immediately powered down again...several times
I then activated the central locking switch a couple of times, tried again and it stayed put
I then disconnected the jump leads and headed off to hospital for the tooth extraction...which was also successful.
Today, I'll head over to the Shipyard, disconnect the battery and trickle charge it for a couple of days.
