rear window creaking

hi

haven't noticed it before but the rear window creaks

had a quick look at the glass is far over to the left hand side while ive got a gap on the right

never noticed it being like this

had a search and cant see if u can adjust the glass left to right in order i can adjust it, as im worried with it being so tight could damage the rear window

apologises for being a pain

this is the right hand side

had the battery disconnected but cant see how its shifted the window over

You can adjust the window from side to side. You have to take off the door cover I think you may have to lower the window to get to the glass clamps. On the glass there are little lines like a ruler on both side so you can centre is up. Hope this helps.

The clamps are held with M6 hex head bolts (10mm socket), slacken them off and move the glass to give an equal gap between the side edges of the glass and the vertical trims when the glass is raised. Then tighten up the clamp bolts...no need to go mad doing it !!!

ah magic, thks guys

just couldnt understand why i hadnt noticed it

still it is what it is and no point me overthinking it and now know what i need to do , just dont want to leave it in case it damages the rear window, dont fancy another bill after doing the inside

hopefully it will stop raining , will see if i can get a couple of pics so then will be on here for someone else

Just had a look and mines the same with a bigger gap on one side than the other. Never noticed it before, so I'm glad you raised this....Off with the rear door cover again tomorrow:frown:

oh blimey ive started something now, lol

also thought as there is the water ingress into the boot on hippos , this may not help with the rear window just about touching the seals on one side and tight on the other

looks like a few people will be out over the weekend altering their rear windows

just be careful not to damage the water shedder from under the plastic tailgate cover, or water will find it's way in.
Since you are at it take the chance to lube the window cables

erm erm , how can i say this, still got to replace the water plastic sheet , the last time i took it off round all the drainage holes blocked up solid

thks though about the window cables, will do that at the same time

since adjusting the door slam lock havent had any water ingress into the boot, took off the top window seal, with the bolt each end, cleaned off all the green slim

when i cleaned it all off the window did actually go up and down alot quicker without all the junk around the seals and also cleaned out the top gutter on the hardtop

The glass should deform the rubber seal by 1mm when the door is closed...any more and it can cause excess drag on the mechanism when it raises the glass to the home position. This is adjustable using the "Jacking screws" which secure the frame to the tailgate. Just slacken the M8 nuts off and turn the screw using a flat screwdriver in the slotted end of the jacking screw.

thks IR will check that over the weekend and as u say make sure the glass isnt being forced against the rubbers to much
