I have the bracket behind the rear bulkhead that I use most often as the additional weight in the back makes a real beneficial difference compare to when I have the wheel on the front bonnet... having the two mounting points gives me maximum flexibility although I have very rarely had to move the spoare from the rear bulkhead as it actually does not take up very much room at all

The choice is yours really - Bonnet... rear bulkhead... or swing away carriers???
There are some other options that I have seen, such as on the cab roof or on a side bracket above the tub, but neither look particularly good or practical to me

I've had the spare on the bonnet, in the tub on the bulkhead and now on a swing away carrier but with a normal door rather than the tail gate. Personally I found none of the placements ideal but a standard width tyre on the bonnet was probs the least annoying. I'm sticking with the swing away for wider tyres and modding it so it can open with the back door rather than having a latch on the opposite side of the door to the door handle! If you had a standard width but same height spare i'd stick it on the bonnet.

oh aye and where I'm from every thing bigger than a car, smaller than lorry and sounds like a tractor is known as a truck!
