Rear shocks

Hello. I'm trying to replace the rear shocks on my 92 RRC air suspension.
Old shock came out easy but I cant get the 2 new rubber bushes into the cups on the lower mount. Anyone had this problem before?

They're the right part number and same as the picture in the manual......

From memory (20 yrs ago!) I fitted first washer and bush, jack under axle to push up and compress bush, fit lower bush and washer, should then have enough thread protrusion to fit nut.
