Afternoon all!

I have recently got myself a great 1996 defender 90 300TDI. Looking to convert into a camper type vehicle and have removed the rear inward facing seats as well as the seat mount bar both in the back of the vehicle and under the vehicle (attached to the rear crossmember).

My question for everyone is, is the seat mount bar both inside the tub and under the vehicle actually needed for support or is it just there for the seats to lock into?

Any help would be really appreciated!

My view as well. I don’t have anything on my 110. My belief is it was just for the seatbelts so they went to the chassis rather than Ali tub floor.
Appreciate your help! Was a bit nervous when I removed the mounted bar from under the vehicle, they a 5mm steal plate under the wheel arch. Might keep them just to help with the rigidity.
