Discovery 2 Td5 facelift model:

My latest problem is that the rear driver side window has decided it doesnt want to go up. Tried both switches, tried to take it all the way down. In the end I hotwired the motor so that I can close it for the night, so i know at least the motor is working fine. something tells me it is probably the ecu? any thoughts?

Just a screen copy of what in the LR workshop manual on the electrics for your rear windows, it appears there isn't an ECU involved. Just switches..
Hope it helps.

It does state LHD but its similar for your RHD disco 2.

after checking everything it seemed that nothing was wrong. so I just worked the switch for about one million times and it started working again! however now im quite sure it is not going down as far as it used to. other observations:
1. used the switch from the other window and that didnt work.
2. after i replaced the switch, the otherside also didnt work, even with the original switch!!!
3. both sides started working again after working the switches

thanks it did help a lot, since there is no ecu involvement i knew it was less complicated than i was afraid it might be

Possibly a slight corrosion on the external switch contacts, or could be the ‘use it or loose it’ syndrome that my disco sometimes has on the stuff I don’t use. :(

I look out for you when I’m in Sliema next, I alway check out the D1s and 2s I see when travelling around Malta, but Ive stayed away for the last couple of years, and it looks like it will be the same for this year. :(

yeah, maybe. im more inclined to think there is some sort of mechanism which decides that it is up or down far enough? not sure.
