Hi Gents,

Need to chenge the rear Outrigger as its gone on the inside edge of the Chassis, does any one know where I can get a full length outrigger that will go right through from outside to the inside edge. All the replacements I have found are for the outside of the chassis only.
If I can't find a suitable replacement - it looks like I will be cutting down a bit of scaffold pole to weld into the Chassis, as it has to take the rocksliders - Unless anyone can suggest something better.

The britpart rear outrigger I used went all the way through and allowed me to weld in the inside chassis surface. It did have the narrow dia bit on the end (perhaps to slot into remnants of the old one) but with the chassis hacked apart it welded in on both surfaces without any problems.

I've just bought the ones from MIB, they do just weld on the outside, but are a completely new design

I think when I replaced mine they quite possibly were the britpart ones. They are designed to cut off the old outriggers (which go right through the chassis) and grind back to the chassis. Then slot the new ones inside the old remaining tubes and weld around the outside.

All good in theory, however chances are if your outriggers are rusted to the point of needing replacing, the inner tubes are bubbled up with rust so that the new ones will not simply slip inside.

The bulk of the time I spent doing the replacement was filing and sanding with just about every abrasive tool I could find to open up the bubbled tube inner diameter. Then hammering in the new ones so they are bashed to buggery with my club hammer (they'd never take rock sliders now).

The job will be a lot easier if you remove the seals before starting though. At least you can get a good swing with the hammer :)
