hi there,
I could really use some help before Mr Hammer becomes acquainted with Mr Rear Door Windows!
I’ve got a 5 door GS TD4 2001 Auto. The rear near side electric window does what it should but the offside doesn’t.
So, I bought a replacement motor and regulator as the old one looked seriously corroded. But still no joy.
I’ve tested the purple plug and have a switched Earth (from the rear window isolator switch), then a permanent 12v feed (white with red stripe), then there are 2 wires (one blue and the other red) which go to the motor plug, followed by another permanent live (white with blue stripe) and the switched live from the headlights for illumination.
The permanent live connectors have a constant feed. The earth isolates as it should and the illumination feed does what it should.
With all switches in place (center console and rear door card switch) and a multimeter at the motor plug I sometimes get a 12v feed but not always. However, with the plug connected to the motor absolutely nothing happens.
Today, because I’m a really clever chap - not, I decided to remove the door card from the near side rear door and check the connections there and compare with the offside.
They are the same.
So I tried swapping the switches around (they all have the same part number) but that just resulted in BOTH rear windows refusing to do anything now!
I have checked the fuses (26 and 27) and both are fine. I can’t see any damage to the wiring and I still get no response whether I use the door switch or the centre console switch.
Someone please help me! Currently my rear offside window is held in place with masking tape as the new regulator isn’t extended and is not supporting the glass.
Thanks in anticipation.
