Removal:
- loosen 4 x 9/16 nuts on hand brakes end of rear prop shaft
- remove 19mm bolts & nuts from differential end of prop shaft
- remove loosen nuts on hand brake end of prop shaft, wiggle the prop shaft flange away, then slide prop shaft out of rear differential centering pin
installalation:
- jack up one side of rear wheel, allowing wheel to be able to spin
- attach new rubber coupling onto prop shaft while it's out, making sure 'triangle' on side of rubber coupling pointing towards prop shaft flange. Use new bolts & nuts.
- slide prop shaft back onto rear diff centering pin, then align front flange onto hand brakes mounting bolts, attach and tighten new 9/16 nuts
- align bolt holes of rubber coupling to the rear diff flange by spinning jacked up rear wheel. Fit new bolts & nuts.
OR........replace rear diff flange with a 200tdi 4 bolt flange, and replace reap prop to a 200tdi rear prop with 4 bolt flange & UJ. You can then do without the rubber coupling. Removing & installation of rear diff flange is another story tho, with lots of swearing if not done properly.
Got my disco for about 22 months now, original rubber coupling lasted just 4 months after having the disco. Fitted 3 more rubber couplings since, with the last one only lasted 3 weeks.
