Hello lovely peeps
Today's problem is the rear electric windows in my 2003 D2 don't work, I have tried
Bypassing the locking switch with no luck, neither the drivers rear window or the door switches themselves do anything, have checked all fuse but not sure which relay is for the rear lift, I have a sorry to say Haynes manual which has a dodgy reference image which I will post, it doesn't actually say which relay is the one I need to find as they have number3d it wrong, it says R3 but shows no R3 in diagram.

So my questions are.
1. Is the relay yellow and 1 from bottom in cab fuse box?
2. Is this the most likely fault and is there a way to test the relay?

Yup it's the yellow one then, I thought so, Haynes have it as R4 doh!
Do you know if it is testable? I know they will only be a few quid and can get a new one but just wondered.

Is it not the same as one out of the engine bay? I have never checked but if it is may be worth nicking one of them to see if it would work.

Have you checked the fuse for the windows? Can you check to see if you have 12V at the relay?

Cheers

I have checked fuses yes but not 12v at relay yet, what's confusing me is the diagrams are different for cab fuse box, the one you posted has one less relay slot, I was wondering if the one I have is for the vehicles with ACE
??
I will see if there are any similar relays under the bonnet too cheers

The relays in the engine compartments are different part numbers .Looking at the part catalogue.

Not sure what the difference is in reality.

Cheers

The relays have same numbers on them apart from batch numbers, same diagrams on side, so now to see if 12v getting to the relay board I guess, wiring diagram time me thinks, the passengers (usually my kids) getting fed up with no openable windows on need to fix asap lol

Hi KB,

Here is the info .
included the sunroof info as well.
Hope it helps.

Shout out if you need anything else.

Cheers

Assuming that the relay is a working one, which you've proved by substitution, and you've properly checked the all the relevant fuses with an ohmmeter for continuity then the problem is looking more like a wiring fault or a fault in the IDM.

I've attached the wiring diagram from RAVE for the 2003 Disco 2, and working from that, the switched 12 volts is fed to the rear window circuit from the ignition switch on the yellow wire and through the fuse F 29 (10 amps) to the electronic switch in the IDM.

The 12 volts to the relay and from there to the window switches and motors is fed on the brown/blue wire, through the fuse F 13 (30 amps) and on to one side of the relay coil and to the relay contact (relay pins 30 and 85). The relay itself is activated by the IDM providing an earth to the other side of the relay coil (relay pin 86). Once the relay has operated, the 12 volts is then switched by the relay from the brown/blue wire and fed out to the centre console switches and on to the motors in the doors on the white/pink wires (relay pin 87).

I hope this is of use.

Thanks Brian, and big thank you neil, I spent some time earlier talking to neilly while comparing multimeter readings, looks like 12v isn't getting to the lift relay on one side, I swapped the relay twice for known working ones identical and no joy, so I am going to start again but work backwards from the doors, checking the earth's and connectors as i go, I am also going to get it plugged in to make sure rear windows haven't been turned off as suggested by neilly, it a learning curve as never had doors without hand winders before lol
One thing I haven't found a common fault between which may shed some light on this, the rear sunroof switch also doesn't work though the front rear switch does, at first I thought common earth but it doesn't look like they do share it but they might share a 12v feed somewhere in the system
