Hello everyone.. was wondering if anybody out there knows where the amp for the rear door speakers lives. All the other speakers are working fine, but I have'nt heard a peep out of the rear door speakers since I've had the brute!

Assuming its a Disco 1, the amp sits between the rear door speakers and easy to get to once the cover is off. Is it the original head unit? If not, more likely that the 'woofer' wires have not been reconnected there when unit changed. Not sure if it's the same on the SII, not had a look at mine.

Same here, im told its because the woofer leads (red and black wires) need an adapter to use the sub woofer with an after market stereo. got me one of them disco woofer adapter leads off ebay but can only plug in one end, then theres nowhere again for the adapter to go. I asked the guy in my local car audio place what does he make of it , he replies "ah sure I wouldnt bother with that yoke"

"That yoke" beats the hell out of that piece of crap kangoo he got outside the shop

anyways i think the amp needs to be powerd aswell as plugging in the woofer leads but then again I dont have a clue iether :D

I tried all the forums, all the permutations of wiring and still couldn't get it to work.

So I bought some nice bookshelf speakers, made a wooden platform and now have them on top of my side seats in the back - works luverley :D :D

There are three existing circuits to the rear sub. 12+v amp power taken from the head unit supply, (light green/orange wire at the amp, also a local earth wire which is black at the amp).
The 12+v amp switching wire (purple/yellow at the amp).
The audio signal cable (black & white wires in a screened cable).

Your head unit must the connections/outputs for a sub be for u start. Then make up your own interface connections.:)

Thanks for the info chaps.. theres a good few 'leads' to be followed up. Its not the end of world if I can't get to the bottom of it, its just that I promised myself to get on top of all the defects it had when I got it.
Will post again with the outcome.. Cheers.

Well done Discool, that brings it all flooding back. I recall the power and switching for the amp is all handled by the standard ISO leads.

Assuming the new head unit has a subwoofer out, you just need one of these connectors from Maplins for the speaker cable to make it all happen. It worked for me!
