Hi All,
As the bad weather will soon be upon us I thought that I better pull my finger out and refurbish the rear crossmember on the 90.
I have used Buzzweld rust encapsulator and chassis in one satin black paint after reading lots of good things about these products.
I am really happy with the results hopefully it will stay looking this good for a long time!
Anyway here are some pictures.

It’s only done 50k as well which was the main reason for the purschase.

Can someone tell me what the two bolts on each end of the crossmember are for? I took them off when painting and can’t really see what purpose they serve.

Thanks

Might be the bolts that hold the rear seat belt mounts. Is yours a station wagon with seats in the back? If so, do your seats face inwards or forwards? I can't remember what year they changed.

I think he means these ones MHM. You can see them in his first picture but they go missing in the later ones. The two round tubes, above those bolts, are the rear seat belt mounts back to the chassis.

That makes sense, yes mine is a station wagon with inward facing seats but the last two have been removed.
Thanks

You'll need to put the bolts back as they secure the other two seat belts as well. Behind the seats there's a large diameter tubular bar that the seat belts bolt to. This bar is fixed to the rear cross member via those two downward tubes and those bolts.

Yes, that's my old chassis being removed. Finished the rebuild a few years ago.
