Hi buddy what do you need to know about the rear x member what part of the country are you at? if your some where near i would do the x member for you. scott

hello scott, thx for the offer - I am in York - any practical help would be great.

I now think it is a replacement 1/4 chassis job as there is some rot in the base of the rear spring hangers. The last MOT date is today, i didn't bother to take it in. I now need to decide whether to sell it as a project or keep it, it is a decent vehicle in general.

I am practicing welding and have got a decent MIG welder but am not yet confident i could do a big job on my own. The course i was booked on got cancelled for lack of interest.

my email is [email protected].

Best thing to do is start practising. You might be able to teach yourself with a bit of reading up on the subject too.
I've had my landy for about 3 weeks and have been cleaning her up a bit so i can paint the chassis.
first i found that the rear cross member is rather rotten at the rear.
Then found out that there is a hole directly above the front axle on the drivers side.
Gearbox crossmember has a huge hole on one end.
Last night went to fit a new rear bumpstop and created a 2 1/2" square hole with a screwdriver directly where the bumpstop covers.
It's been patched a few times already and i'm thinking about a galv chassis over the winter.
The bulkhead is really good apart from the footwells which aint a problem.
Amazing what the mud hides.

Hi are you getting just the rear x member or a quater? i done mine and it was very easy didnt take long what do you need to know?
