Howdy all,

Treated my Landy to new HD rear bumper in the Black Friday sales

Has landed today, so going to have a go fitting it tonight.

I am thinking that the bolts will be a sod to remove after 17 odd years, so going to get some new high tensile ones to replace them.

I have searches and can see that they are M10 bolts with either a 17mm or 19mm head???, but cannot see what length I need.

Does anyone know the exact size of the bolts so I can nip out at lunch and get some spare ready to fit?

Many thanks.

One other question, I have seen these mounting plates to give extra support for the bumper...

Anyone know what they are called, or where I can get one from??

Well, I should have looked in the box better, but as I was at work, was hard to have a good look, as when I got home and in the garage, and unpacked everything, I found a little parcel wrapped up inside the box....which contained the above plate and new bolts!

Angle grinder was used to remove the old bumper after trying to be nice and remove the nuts with a spanner, and new bumper fitted - it looks far to new and shiny at present! Need to get it mucky......

That should be a high clearance tow mount.
No point reinforcing the bumper like that since it's a sacrificial part, it just transfers impacts directly to the frame.

oh well, its been reinforced, as fitted it last night. Won't do it any harm, as the extra mounting points should help??

For sure. The tow hitch connects to the frame and sticks out beyond the bumper anyway. Not sure how you're supposed to reach those tow plate bolts once the bumper is on though lol

You can easily get to the bolts, as they screw into a welded nut on the plate...

Not my Disco, but similar bumper showing the nuts....

Can't you mount the flat plate or sliding box type tow plate directly onto those bolts to improve ground clearance (exit angle)?

You have lost me.

I don't have a tow bar, well I do - its detachable with my tank guard - this is my setup.....

So I have plenty of ground clearance on my exit angle, as I have even got rid of the back box for a side exit

Cool. Just looking at that ground anchor and wondering why they'd mod the bumper but not care about clearance.
