I had an advisory on my MOT that the rear diff input seal is leaking, just wanted to try and get the advice of anyone who has done this job, is it OK just to get the seal and just one out one in.
Or is it wizer to replace what the seal runs on as well I suspect this would be the input flange.
Saw this Kit

I ended up replacing the flange as well as it had a nice groove in it.

But as it is not a difficult job , maybe worth pulling the flange and seeing if yours has a groove in it or not?

Only thing is make sure you have a way of holding the flange while you undo / torque up the nut. I have made a special flange holding bar with multiple holes in it to hold the flanges on the car.

Cheers

check the breather, and it is just a matter of removing flange and swapping seal though old one can be hard to prise out and fill rear of seal with grease or petroleum jelly to hold garter spring in place whilst its been tapped home,ftc5258

I wondered if the flange might have a groove in it havent looked yet but I would expect the worst.

Thanks James will follow the grease tip,
Having a bit of a purge as my re built transfer box is also leaking on the output seal into the transmition brake so I am going to replace both sides flanges and seals.
Another dirty weekend planned.
