Hi

Not sure this is in the right area but I need a rear airbag fitted and have been quoted stupid prices such as £235 up to £350 for one airbag being fitted. I haven't really got the time, experience or confidence to do it myself and wondered if any one knows somewhere that can do it cheaper around the Hinckley area? And if possible before the 21st December 18. I have tried a load of garages which most don't want to touch it and others charge that which when two airbags cost £70 it seems to be over charging

I know that one bag has a leak and the other seems to be fine. It does drop (depends on her mood of how many hours or days before she does) but it dropped today while driving on the motorway and need to make sure it not going to happen again. There were only 5 people in and a 3 suitcases not overly heavy (carried heavy stuff in her in the past no problem) as need to carry up to 7 people in it and don't want to risk getting put on the back of the truck again

Don’t think this is the right place for questions but it depends on the quality of air bags for a start. I have a cheap one in the car for emergencies but wouldn’t use it full time. Fit a pair of good ones, they are easy to do. You might even find it doesn’t cost much more to get both done while it’s in the garage and make sure they are good ones. Leave it leaking and you will more than likely damage the compressor. If it’s suddenly dropping it could of course be the height sensors or the wiring/plugs.

Not sure what the garage would fit from their supplier. It slowly drops when it is parked up which sometimes you can hear it hissing as it drop. I not sure whether it suddenly dropped while driving or slowly dropped as didn't notice till the steering went funny and seemed to bang a bit when driving and looked in the mirror and saw it dropped down which is the first time it has done that

Bit too far Tamworth. £250 for 2 bags or just 1?

Feck me I use them and I'm in Wolverhampton.

For one bag. You've got your part which is gonna be £100 thru the garage, an hours labour £70-100 then your VAT. They'll charge 1hr minimum per side.

Or buy some tools and diy

If you "haven't really got the time, experience or confidence to do it yourself" then you have to pay a professional and you are paying for the garages knowledge, skill, experience and to be in business they have large overheads they have to cover so the prices you've quoted cannot fairly be described as over pricing IMHO.

Personally I would have both bags and both ride height sensors replaced if you have no knowledge when they were done.

Pic attached, literally one page in the manual. I have two new sensors but as yet unfitted, my isssue appears to have been a broken wiring plug.
