hi i have a defender 90 1992 an its developing a really nasty front wobble,it started a few weeks ago if i went over a couple of bums it would start and only stop if i slowed down, now its starting on its own if i go over 60 or hit little bums,have been told it could be the swivels needing shimming,does this sound right,cant see anything loose?

What do you mean by a front end wobble? When you're going in a straight line, steering or both? What kind of wobble? Does it wander and feel as if its doing what it wants?

How bad is the shaking? Is it an all over vibration or does it feel like the shaking is caused by the wheels? Does it seem related to road speed in any way?

Just put mine back together, Taking apart a breeze, putting together a different story. Just follow a manual for the first side. After that its a breeze on the other side.

I would've thought that if your swivels were at fault your old girl would wander and not just vibrate. Is the vibration felt via the steering wheel.?! Possibly as said above it's the bushes but just double check the wheel balancing first. Eliminate the inexpensive bits first
