Hi Kevin,
I left the entire post because this is kind of old.
I just had it checked. I was in no hurry as you can tell.
My left hub is not engaging. All else is well.
Sorry for the delay. You've probably already got yours fixed. ;-)
BTW: I now have about 139,000 miles on that same Tracker.
Took it to the shop to have the 4X4 checked and a couple of other things. Seems
the computer is bad. The check engine light stays on. I guess the computer is
not sending the right signals to the egr valve. $1,500 from GM. I found a used
computer for $250. I am also having the timing belt replaced. I had to have a
clutch put in it. A spring fell out of the disc and was keeping the clutch from
working properly. I drove it about 300 miles to get home broken. Talk about
strange feeling. Felt like the cable was stretching. Hard to shift at the end.
I just thought I'd throw in that info for folks searching about Trackers
thinking about buying one. I still like mine. I've put about 46,000 miles in 10
or 11 months and that's pretty much all I've done to it. Here comes trouble. ;-)
The oil has about 42,000 miles on it. I am using a Gulf Coast filter (toilet
paper). I am using Valvoline 10W-40. I will be changing to Mobile I or another
synthetic in the near future. I want to pull some lab tests on the current oil
first to see how it's doing. The oil turns dark with age but you can still see
the transparent golden color when it runs up the dipstick when warm. I change
the TP about every 3,000 miles and drop a fresh quart in. I am happy with the
filter and plan on buying more for my other vehicles. I have probably saved the
cost already on oil changes. The filter was about $166.
I have an old chevy pickup I am going to use for a few tests on this oil filter.
I will post my lab results when I get them. Actually I'll put them on the web
and post the link with some photos of the installation. Very easy and neat to
change TP, BTW.
