Please don't follow up spam posts by stating the obvious and then
quoting the entire spam post. I never received the original but
thanks to you, it reached my news reader after all. Such action is a
great help to the spammers because thanks to you, their advert now
reaches a lot of people that it wouldn't otherwise have reached.

have to say, mind, that the classic pyramid scheme is a bit like lotteries -
harmless and no-one forces you to take part. If people are prepared to pay
5 bucks for a list of email addresses or something equally silly, then why
should it bother me? I can ignore or filter the posts...

I had direct evidence of someone who got involved in one - they didn't make
100,000 bucks or whatever they said you would, but did net about 5K from it.

Sometimes, like now, when the pay is yet to arrive after christmas expenses,
I get tempted... now, where's that yahoo mail account sign-up page gone...

Sure, but no-one forces you to buy penis-enhancing drugs (well at
least I hope not!), or cheap food, or Toyota Landcruisers, but we
don't want spam about any of these products in the group. Most news
feeds filter them out, but sometimes an occasional numpty comes along
who re-posts the entire message top-posting something like "tihs is
spam lol yuo suycker" at which point the entire spam gets forwarded
past the ISP spam-blocks to people who'd never have seen it. It's
another example of people just not thinking about the consequences of
an action, and I think we can agree that's something to be
discouraged.
