Mine barely got through emissions last MOT. Should be cleaner this year as it has had alot of TLC but I doubt you could de-cat it without trouble. But I genuinely like how that looks, it isn't silly looking, quite tasteful as stainless exhausts go IMHO.

Definitely on the long term cards now I've seen one fitted :). Though apprently it does make the exhaust note a bit more boy racery - but alot of that comes down to how you drive. Big BMW's have the same large bore exhausts and the noise varies wildly depending on whether a chimp is behind the wheel.

mines getting a steel centre pipe at the w/e to match the steel rear box i put on 4 months ago.

cat next then front pipe, it has a throaty roar thats not becoming

Throaty roar is good, better than the scream of the engine, it's a good lump but revs high & don't exactly sound great to be fair, the roar adds a bit of beef to it, & no doubt a couple of bhp as well

Ah same as my current one then. Looks like the stainless one gives ever so slightly more clearance if I'm not imagining it.

it's snapped half way through at the front rubber hanger so i'm not going to hang about changing it.
the k-series was developed to rev high, though it has an unhealthy drinking problem if you do that.

I don't like taking it above 3500 - starts to sounds like a racer and it just doesn't sound like it's good for it. Just me being paranoid after the HGF though I spose. Least I've got the Chuck Norris coolant pump and if that can't handle it nothing can.

mine very rarely strays past 3k but i've had it up to 6k in bursts and no TD4 will accelerate faster

when i was doing it the hg didn't bother me i was thinking of the ird

hows that going? all smooth now?

Yes seems to be totally groovy now. Last time I checked I hand't lost any coolant, I'll check again soon but I'm fairly confident.

I think that moving the feed hose messed with the temperature sweet spot though, me and DD need to go for a drive with his reader so we can see what the actual engine temp is. Might have to use the highest temp setting on the pump but as long as real temp doesn't go much above the mid 90's it should be fine.

On the few times I've dropped to 3rd and floored it my lips have pealed back over my ears. It's a bit of a monster when it's happy - it's such a tragedy more people can't apreciate what a great machine a functioning K series is.

I take it chuck is electric water pump, I've been told a Bosch inline electric pump works??

well up to now...it's just me and you every fooker else thinks they're crap.

i'd love to have an Elise and tune the bejasus out of one:cool:

Now yer talking!! Or an MG TF. To be fair, Diesel Do should take alot of the credit he's helped me out whenever I've been stuck and lent tools etc. His K seems pretty happy, I don't think it's even had it's first HGF yet.

I've come to the conclusion that for DIY enthusiast on a limited budget who needs a big bang for his buck there is no better Landy than a K series Freelander. Could be wrong but the more I learn the more it rings true.

Mine is a Davies Craig EWP80 and digital controller. It's the fooking dog's bollocks - it's so reactive and dynamic if you actually record the telemetry you can see each gear change and juntion reflected in the pump operation and engine temperature. If you floor it and go into high revs it dumps a load of slightly cooler water (not enough to cause thermal shock) and in theory that's giving a small instant power boost :D. It's an absolute must have for a K series that one intends to keep IMO. As far as I know I'm the first one to put one in a FL but there will be others. I'm definitely getting better MPG since fitting it too.

I like the k, when I were young I had a couple of rovers & they flew, that's why I've bought petrol freebie, the engines sweet just need to iron out the minor faults that last owner has noshed over( map chip, loads of white grease & dodgy air intake mod out of vacuum cleaner hose) its not rocket regular maintenance, get to know your engine, I nurse mine at the moment & never go over 3250rpm, even on motorway, & as for slowing down tough, when it's sorted I'll grin
