Hiya Guys, i'm getting a rattling upto 2000rpm, a whining noise in1st 2nd & 3rd (creeping into 4th now) & also power loss when going up hills, eg on motorway 70mph hit a hill drops to 55-60, revs go as well, when pulling off up hill i have to cane it to go anywhere, i've changed map, air filter, plugs, leads, coil, cleaned fuel filter & injectors, the rattling is from around aux belt area,so had them checked there all new, tensioners are all ok, had hg done recently before i bought it, thats why i got it (got uprated hg kit), it test drove fine but never really hit a hill to put it under load, I also took prop out as viscous coupling was getting hot & was very loose on bearings, still no joy, any ideas folks

Well for power loss I'd check the air filter for one thing. Wining is sometimes attributable to fecked IRD but that's a worst case scenario.

Thanks wl, new air filter fitted last week, even tried with induction kit & still no better,

Yes I thought you would have checked it. Hate to say it, but if your VCU was so bad you had to disconnect the prop then the possibility exists that it is your IRD. There's a link in my signature abouts transmissio problems - the site it links to is just the ticket for this stuff :).

Thanks, sounds like ££££, it's going in garage in morning to have ird fluid flushed & changed, outside bet that it might just be dryish, my bet is its never been changed nits 86000 miles for a start,,I'd already got this booked in for all oils to be done, I think the rattling could be tappets/ hydraulic lifters good flush & oil change might sort that, it cruises bang on till a hill, when she's running round town bang in just a bit rattly at low revs

Will do, having a quote tomorrow for stainless system so I'll get the puddycat checked as well

.... is it wrong that I've also been oggling a stainless system wif that lovely double S twin pipe silencer? As long as they didn't stick out in a posey way I reckon it would look the mutt's :).

not really bothered what it looks like for mine, it just has to last a long time and put up with the occassional off-road thump.

oh and yer pic is upside down

I've got a list for the weekend, & a willing son who's just starting motor engineering course to get dirty lol

Yeh I noticed that lol, funny it's at that orientation in most of the pics but I see what you mean. I'm not really that concerned with bling but as long as it isn't too sticky-outy I think it might be a nice addition. But right at the bottom of my priorities right now !

That's shiny I like it a lot, I'm going ETS in Ripley they make em to the car, ( wonder if you can de-cat a Freebie & still pass emissions) Mmm one to ponder over,

mine had a lot of tweaking to get through the emissions last year and the tester said that all k-series were the same :(

Wonder if that could be the problem on mine, maybe been retarded to get emissions right?? That's how it feels at times, like the old advance/ retard on carbs
