fuse ok relay swapped over still just cranks over
Do the test and listen to @wammersbanged on tank no smoke or smell after cranking for a bit, are we heading towards a fuel pump failure?
Click on his name in his first reply to you and click "start a conversation"Have looked for wammers to give a pm but cannot view
would prefer to listen to one who knows his onions, rather than do a morris dance in a strange position under the vehicle with a mallet in the left and a club H in the right whilst cranking the engine
lmao...I know the feeling! the P38 is turning out to be quite the beast to sort out! What he means is the immobilizer may be on as sometimes the engine comp and body computer get out of sync with each other and do nasty things to you just for fun. And as this type of problem comes up often, he was wondering if it had been mentioned yet.
I can tell you from my own experience that air in the clear pipe running from the filter to the main fuel pump (i stopped calling it a high pressure pump after being told off) is most likely a failed in tank fuel pump or fuel pump relay. The thing to do is disconnect the fuel pipe before the filter and turn ignition on. Fuel should come out of the pipe. If it doesn't then there are a few things to test. to quote wammers " relay 12 fuse 32" lmao
Don't think the 99model cranks when out of sync hence why Wammers suggested fuel pump. Bridge relay and it should deliver something like 180 ml of fuel in a certain time. Wammers did a write up in the technical section.
when I first got mine it was showing 'immobilized' on a reader. Its a 97 dse. there was no fuel anywhere. none at filter or after that....obviously. I found in tank pump dead.Replaced that pump and still no fuel at injectors...still reads ...immobilized and wont turn over, however, i had fuel coming out the tank. It turned over but still no fuel at injectors. the immobilizer was still on. I sorted it by using the sympathetic sync procedures because the reader I had access to couldnt re-sync. Post 97's should re-sync by using the radio key in the door and the ignition. there was a bit in the reading that said press the lock / un-lock buttons while in the door/ignition but I didnt have too. it re-synced on its own. I could have been lucky. To be fair, I had other problems with the main fuel pump but, key on = fuel coming out the tank. That didnt mean fuel out the injectors, just fuel out the tank. Of course, I could just be talking out my arse, but this is what happened for me. My belief is, in any system, start at the beginning and follow the flow from step one to last step.
