Hi,
I’m having my L322 completely low and don’t manage to activate EAS.
I’ve used iCarsoft to clean the errors on EAS and ABS ECUs but the system keeps being inactive.

After restarting the car I still have a CAN BUS ERROR occurring.

I believe that I wouldn’t be able to talk and observe pressure, tensions, voltage if the CAN was dead, but I might be wrong.
If at least I could lift up a little the car I’d be able to bring it back home, it is stuck in my job parking now.

Does anyone have some ideas to dig the problem(s) ?

Thanks all

Your title says Evoque...but the content of your post says L322....they are different...and one is really ****e!

This is the ****e:

This is a proper Range Rover (in its L322 variant):

So which are we talking about?

Other error is it's not a P38a ;) Just Kidding
:D

Usual problem is damp in the electronics behind the trim panel in the left hand rear quarter of the boot
I'll check if having humidity. But Isn't the EAS ECU near the passenger's door ? Or Are there other related ECUs in the boot else than the multimedia ?

I guess I'll have to bring it back home slowly then check if there is damp. I'll also charge the battery, it may be low as it was not used for long.

I've seen several tutos, videos and read much about EAS inactive issue. Actually what I know is that the compressor runs when bypassing the relay, but not tested the pressure it can raise. And the previous owner had replaced the EAS ECU without making it being activated once...that was a reason for him to sell it so I'm not surprised it doesn't work. I could try to analyse the suspension system with the iCarsoft tool but I expected defaults on the pressure or sensors, not this CAN BUS ERROR I don't know where to investigate :(

Because all the systems are interconnected, if the CAN bus goes down it can affect all systems including the EAS which is often the first symptom.

After investigations, it appears that the steering angle sensor was in fault, I read in others threads that this may explain the inactive suspension system.
I've removed it and opened and yes it's broken : one of the four contact blades is dead. So I've ordered a repair kit on the internet and will wait for its reception. First this is less expensive then the full element, and it avoids reprogramming the new one to fit the whole system.
I'll insert some pictures to illustrate the default.

Hi Freakstreet, did you sort this problem in the end?
I have the same problems that have been dragging on, all 'new' parts on via salvage and ebay etc, indy garage had my L322 2005 SE 4.4 V8 LPG 4 days (totally bemused them and loved the challenge!) and said in the end the EAS ECU is the wrong one, so fingers crossed the one in the post changes it all! I got one for 99 quid as the 475 quid plus vat is too steep!

What diagnostic do you use on yours please and will it manually raise the truck up ok, using the tool? Would like to buy one but not sure which one?
Cheers
Mike

How did the wrong EAS ECU get fitted? When a garage say they "love a challenge" what they really mean is they love to empty your wallet:rolleyes:

hahah! Usulaly the case, but it's my local indy here in Edwinstowe Notts. They said it needed the software updated and that would cure the inactive eas, my great friend and superb mechanic changed all the parts for, compressor, eas relay, eas ecu, eas front link valve - all from salvage and the truck holds the height after he used his gap tool to raise it. He thought it was a potential wiring fault, so did the garage.
Only charged me an hours labour and gave me the correct part number for the ecu. It's the gift that keeps on giving.....
Currently on it lowest setting at the back!!
