No adjustments are possible the engine is controlled by the ECM via various sensor readings.

You would have to replace the chain and worn sprockets. Things would have to be pretty bad for these to jump a tooth.

The chain and sprocket is behind the front cover. Not that bad a job to get to it but seem to remember it taking a while to get all the bits out the way.

Check the tech archive, there is a How to on removing the timing cover and replacing the gears and chain, it indicates in there how to ensure the crank is at TDC and the cam is aligned correctly......now I wonder who wrote that??

If you have the gems engine, check the flex plate. The crank sensor usually shows some sign of damage scuffing etc, if this is the case.
