update:
Checked connections per the manual. everything normal. 12v to s connection on starter solenoid and dead.
A friend sent me another working amr2109 and no change. Still no ignition light and no cranking. something is broke or it's haunted. I've arranged for a local land rover garage to come have a look. If they can't get it running I'll get the local vicar to do something. Will let you know the outcome.

With a12v supply direct from the battery to the solenoid it will switch, and connects the HD12v supply through to the starter motor, it will turn al things being equal, it it doesn’t the the motor could be jammed, dimming of the head lamps will also happen.

Is the a chance that the engine is immobiliser by the AMR2109 ECU an iffy switch or switch cam on the rear of the drivers door lock can do that via the ECU, but the immobiliser lamp would be permanently illuminated..

We will see when the LR guys have a look.:)

Update: They checked all the basic electrical connections etc.
Starter is dead. I've taken it off and waiting for new one. Will fit new and see if it starts. If no joy, they do know an alarm specialist who can fix the problem if it's an alarm problem. i.e. still no ignition light and no engine cranking. There is also no alarm red LED dash light which should illuminate.
Cheers, Paul

Update:
Starter dud. New starter and starts fine. No alarm problem but still no red ignition light. Been stood for a long time so probably gremlins. When I finish the resto I'll get an auto electrician to give it the once over to finally sort it out.
