I am sure this will be no surprise but I seem to have random volume control on stereo from either unit dial or steering wheel controls but not necessarily the same result from both! The sat nav has a mind of it's own but at least the hvac seems to work properly at today! I am guessing I need a dedicated diagnostic tool but which one for 2002 4.6 thor?

Corroded connectors are the regular P38 disease. The radio volume control can also play up, a wash with Airoclene 50 fixes it.
