Hi all

My 1997 range hse currently has a aftermarket radio which has never worked! after researching the complexities of wiring a new aftermarket radio have decided to refiit a secondhand stock item

Could you please advise which model is compatible with the 1997 "p" plate car as I see alpine and clarion variants or is it as simple as both models being compatible?

I have the HK speaker upgrade and also a multicanger in the boot - which is all standard kit fitted from new

I am hoping that fitting an original I will get cruise control and steering wheel functions back - does anyone know if cruise control and the radio interface are linked or is my lack of cruise control like to be another issue??

Thanks

Can't help with radio spec but cruise control likely to be split vacuum pipes, very easy to replace originals with silicone tubing off eBay or similar.

The head unit you need should be the clarion one, most of the then second hand have the display gone but you can get them completely referbed by clarion for about £100 and will be as good as new.

You can phone Clarion service center for a price on 01285861861 and send it to Pennyfields,Malmesbury rd, Leigh, nr Cricklade Wiltshire.

It's probably just as easy to put another aftermarket one in as who knows what wires have bee fiddled with behind there. It's not that difficult and you'll have the same issues whatever. They will all either plug in or thy will all be a pain because it's been messed with by an idiot. The Steering controls usually require an extra box of trickery that converts p38 control speak to what ever radio you decide to fit.
Does the cruise control switch on the dash light up when you push it? And does it illuminate when the lights are on? Mine was unplugged.
