LONG STORY..But keep it short. My 2001 p38 had an MOT last week, the front windscreen washer was not working but they said they could fix it with a simple re-wire!! However when i picked my baby back up the radio would not work ie none of the buttons would work .No volume up/down could not change fron CD to Radio or Tape. The head unit was lit up and sound from the radio station that had been left on ,however could not turn it on or off or use the head unit in any way...For some reason they had pulled the head unit out as it was still loose when i got back into the car?? The funny thing was i found that i could work everything ie,cd tape and radio from the steering wheel..They had the car back and still have it today (3 days) TWO probs they have checked all the wires and they seem fine, but they have also taken the radio out and even though they have the radio code because the buttons don't work they can not input it.I hope someone my have come across this problem and HELP with info?? Way the buttons don't work and in so doing they may be able to then re-input the code and my baby can come home where she belongs :-(

Check for individual loose or shifted pins in the connectors on the back of the radio. They tend to fit quite tightly and nobs yank by the wires. Also try disconnecting your battery's negative for half an hour. It might reset.

Years ago i had a sony that did something similar then it turned out a button was jamed in and the system would only work with one button at a time
This could be easily checked if these radios work the same by a member with the same radio holding a button then pressing another failing that if the radio is on but the buttons dont work I would say its fecked
Maybe theve shorted something or put power to somthing that dont want it
Why did they need to remove the radio anyway?
