Changed the stat - no difference. Old one had some scale inside it but nothing too serious. Boiled the bugger in my wife's best saucepan :) and it seems to be working OK :( At least I've got a spare one to add to the shed.

Did not get round to pulling the heater box as both my ABS and TC lights have now come on and refuse to go out. Good job my MOT was a few weeks ago. Yanked all the wheel sensors (not pleasant with ice cold fingers sitting in 3 inches of snow) and cleaned and re-seated them including the wiring connectors. No dice so it must be something serious/expensive. :(

Dont have access to a Nanocom to find out what the problem is so it may have to wait until the weather warms up. Brakes are working just fine on all four wheels so a bit of tape over the dash lights will sort it until later.

Heater box will come out at the weekend now as I've got more pressing things to do like work.

Give me a shout once xmas is out the way and I'll chuck mine your way.;) If it becomes urgent I'll fire it over to you before hand but don't like posting anything expensive in the run up to xmas unless I have to.

Cheers Ratty. Totally agree with Xmas post. Its nothing that cant wait. The brakes are fine. I'm going to give all the connectors a good clean up at the weekend and see if that makes any difference. I'll give you a shout in the new year and send a few beer tokens your way.

I've been looking around for one of those 300w ceramic heaters - not paying £80 for one though!

I've been freezing my bits off driving my Ninety (Disco 200tdi) the last couple of weeks. I know the heater can work, as it was toasty with the old 19J engine. The 200tdi is just so cool-running (I've not had a fan fitted since I did the transplant and haven't needed one). This morning I fitted a radiator muff and drove to work with it half open - it's made a huge difference. I could actually feel warm air coming out of the vents!

If I see one anywhere I'll let you know. It's best to buy heaters in the summer though rather than winter. Funnily enough they are generally cheaper then.

Cheers for that - I really hadn't appreciated how much cooler the Landy would be with the Disco engine in it!

The heater matrix pipes on my landy were hot, but the heater was still crap, you really need to get the old matrix out and re seal the heater box.

Coo - that must give the old battery a kicking!

I used a household dimplex fan heater thing running off my inverter in my works truck a couple of years back.......Until I forgot about it being on the floor in the back of my truck when I went deep water wading.:doh::doh:

Luckily it wern't plugged in at the time.:eek::eek:

Until that point it got the truck toastie in no time though.:p

I have a 200tdi, I bought a Rad Muf which was a total waste of money.
My thinking was that the engine would warm up quicker. I don't think it made any difference.
I put a piece of linoleum directly infront of the rad and that works much better and cost nothing and you don't see it.

Thats expensive. I have a used cardboard year planner wrapped in a black bin bag. Slid between the rad and the intercooler.

before taking out the matrix or changing thermostat, try adjucting the levers on the heater box...

My 110 td5 was freezing cold. It was because when you operate the lever inside the car ( hot/cold lever) it wasn't fully opening the flap inside the heater box. Only took a few minutes fiddling with it to get it spot on.

I only thought to do this after messing with the matrix though!!!

Blocked off all of my rad today with carboard. Temparature guage showing vertical 12 o clock on motorway and around town. Heater much warmer. Have a Kenlowe fan fitted which did not switch on. Checked rad hoses Much warmer. Only problem engine running on slightly 1-2 seconds. Could this be related?
