Hi , I'm getting ready to pull out the gearbox and transfer box as a unit from my 300tdi Defender , using an engine crane through the passenger side . Does anyone have any advice on how to attach the sling to get the box to come back as level as possible ? Thanks in advance .

I can't recommend an exact attachment point, but it's always further back than you think, because the bellhousing is largely full of fresh air and doesn't weigh very much. The other thing to bear in mind is that once freed from its moorings, it'll try to twist, because the transfer box and centre diff housing weighs it down on one side, so tie something round the 'nose' of this to stop it doing so.
