R380 Gear box

Will a TD5 Discovery manual gearbox fit a 300 TDI Discovery and are the gear ratios the same?
If the imput shaft is different is that easily swapped over?

To make certain u have to do some research .....there are 4 types of R380 gearboxes with some differences between them .........look for yourself: http://www.roversclub.org/docs/R380_Gearbox_Overhaul_Manual.pdf then see what type u have and what type is the Td5 one's and if they fit.

Maybe u'll be lucky to get a smarter answer from someone who did that kind of swap..........i didnt, so that's why i can't help u more on this

Thanks for the reply.
The reason I am asking is because my r380 main shaft splines are badly worn and the td5 gearbox is local to me.

can have the input shaft .bellhousing ,gear top assembly swapped but not with std j suffix 300 tdi r380
