Looking for some wisdom and recommendations.
When I gave my 110 CSW TD5 2002 reg' defender its first service in Oct' after buying it, I changed all the oils as the service log showed the gearboxes nt been done in a few years. The oil recommended to me at that time was Fuchs Titan Sintofluid SEA 75w-80 by Opie Oils.
Unless I am mistaken, once the engine and gearbox get warm, I find the gear changes far more clunky than when cold. Things progressed today to the point that after around an hours running at 50 -60 mph steady trucking, when I needed to 'drop down' to fourth - it would not engage / was blocked. Bringing things to a halt at a roundabout 1st required a good shove in . Moving up 1-,2-3, 3-4 all ok 4-5 clunky/needed a shove into gear. Parking was 'fun' as reverse was not an easy find again needing a good shove in and feeling gears find places.
What do folks use in there gearbox (link if you get it online much appreciated) - or should I be gritting my teeth for bigger bills. Is this common ?
It seams far less troublesome when trucking around locally lower speeds and mostly short trips.
