lets see, when i wur 15ish i had a 2 paper rounds, a milk round and i sold bread rolls 3 evenings a week, at the weekend and school holidaze i worked for motorway tyres.

i also found time to go camping with me mates , well it was more of an all night card school, we even built a stock car that one bloke raced when he wur 16.we also spent time tarting up old push bikes we found at the dump and sell them on. and the list of **** that a 15 yo can do goes on and on specially as i havn't mentioned the things that yer not really meant to do

so you see if you apply a bit of thought to it you'll see there's lots of **** you could be doing!!

When I was 15, i'd already nearly blown up meself, me nextdoor neighbour and his dad's garage test firing my patented home-made cannon (never do test firing indoors). I'd restored an old 50cc trials motorbike and done some porting/tuning to the engine, played Cricket twice a week and still had time to discover beer, fags and loose women

That is shocking .... we made them that would explode under water in the boating pond like depth charges.

The spoil-sports goody-goodies don't allow REAL sodium chlorate (NaClO3) to be sold nowadays - they pollute and dilute it so it won't make bombs any more. No wonder kids get bored these days and go committing crimes.

We made a big rocket once .... three feet long stainless steel pipe ... point, fins, convergent-divergent nozzle ... and lit her.

There was a deafening WOOOOOOSH ROAR noise, and a trail of white smoke into a cloud ........ about this time we began to wonder if, and if so where and when, it might it might return to earth.

Two things:
1. we never saw it again
2. we never did that again.

The fuel was not sodium chlorate and sugar by the way.

Those were the days.

No NaClO3 any more perhaps... but you can still buy solid fuel model rockets - no sure what the propellant is, but it grinds up (very ferkin carefully!!!!) a lot like black powder and has very similar properties when lit.

Don't know if you can still get Potassium Nitrate over the counter... probably not I guess... but that's fun when mixed with graphite powder and sulfur flowers in the right proportions.
