Hi all.
Just a quick one. I've got a disco 1 and going to upgrade to a disco 2. I'm planing on putting a custom made fuel tank in the boot so I can put a winch in place of the old tank.
I'm making a sheet metal folder to help me make the tank. I need to know the distance between the inside of the 2 wheel arches as this will be the longest bit of metal I will need to bend.
If it is the same as a disco 1 I will just measure mine.
Thanks in advance for Elliot.

Before you do that, I'd check and measure under the very rear boot floor, between chassis rails and across the rear crossmember .. IIRC a decent winch tray could replace the crossmember and actually be stronger (winch trays usually 6mm or thicker steel) than the parts of chassis it replaces. You might not need to do anything to the fuel tank.

Do you know how the Td5's fuel pump needs to be connected? cos it's not a simple lift pump like on the 300Tdi, it has a pipework with special fittings also the tank's breather system must be exactly the same like on the original tank or you might replace many pumps in time or even have engine running/starting issues if the pressure in the tank is not under controll

Didn't think about that. Looking at my disco 1 the winch will be too low down but I know the disco 2 is different at the back.

I'm sure I'll be able to extend the pipe somehow. I would imagine breather is a breather.

It's probably going to go wrong but I've all ready started making the folder.

I'm still going to make a folder as I'm going to do some draws for the boot.
Could someone with a disco 2 message between the inside of the 2 wheel arches in the boot please.
Thanks Elliot
