Hi Chaps wonder if you can help. Ok before i upset anyone I am VERY new to the Range Rover world currently driving a tired Isuzu Trooper M reg 3.1 D with 155k on the clock. I am looking at a Range Rover as my wife has horses and we need something to pull the Ifor williams Trailer which sometimes has 2 horses in. Think we will push the boat out a bit and would like a Range Rover but want to try to keep things cheap so looking at LPG. Like the look of the model after the P 38 (about 2003 onwards) seem to be going for around 12k dealership. Not overbothered about colour but would like the Vogue if I could.

i would like a few pointers if anyone could spare the time
What to look for apart from the obvious HPI check FSH knocks and dents etc?
What are the best LPG kits do they need separate service ontop of the normal vehicle?
As my brother is a mechanic he would be carrying out most of the work bar diagnostics so who would you recommend for spares?
LPG seems to be going for about 75p per litre around here do you have any costs per mile approx ?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies

Go for a diesel, more reliable, more economical and the 3.0litre in the L322 goes pretty well especially with a power box and you can run on bio diesel (NOT WVO). The P38 finished in 2002 then it's the L322.

thanks for this just been looking at prices of them what are your thoughts of a remap for economy on a diesel has anyone had any experience of this what sort of MPG could i expect

My P38 averages brim to brim around 24mpg and up to 30mpg on the autoroute. It even managed an average of 21mpg lugging a caravan around the Pennines. My mates L322 diesel runs around 9 litres to 100 kilometres:D

I have spent all night on the abacus trying to work that one out and at my age that ain't easy!!!

My 2 year old Grandson said it's about 30mpg. I am booked into the Sunshine Home for relapsed drunks tomorrow. :deadhorse::beer2::beer2::beer2:

My advice forget the P38, go with a L322 4.4 V8 and stick it on LPG, ive had both and nothing but trouble with the P38 and the L322 is spot on, loads of power when needed averages 23 to the gallon and on LPG being half the price the only way i can justify it, i'm getting 210 miles to £53 based on 69.7 as LPG is around here, STAG is a good system and for a V8 with 5years warranty £1200 all in .. Sorted
