Has anyone seen these drive flanges before? What’s special about them? Are they combined drive shaft and member?

It’s a 2016 Puma 110 Utility rear axle.
 
Yes, one piece shaft / flange. Also used on some 90's. Can post extracts from the workshop manual if you need it.
