I have a 2.4 puma that has been idle for about 5 years and plan to get her running over the next month, providing life doesn't through another curve ball. I removed the injectors and plan to have them checked before refitting, the radiator and fluid was removed 4 years ago. I am thinking it it probably wise to drop the sump and change the oil pump, and change the water pump. Any other suggestions before refilling oil and water and what is good practice regards to restarting, is there anything I can do to get the cylinders/crank/cams lubed because I don't like the thought of going in dry!

Make sure the injectors go back in their original locations. They are individually serial numbered and are coded to the ECU. If you take the sump off, be prepared to buy a new one - I understand they are a throw away item.

It’s a good idea to turn the engine over by hand or on the starter with the fuel system disabled first, just to get some oil circulating before firing it up.

Sounds like a plan. I'll have plenty of opportunity to turn it over before I get the fuel primed after changing the diesel filter, apparently another common pain in the backside problem I'll have to overcome!
