I recently got one of these at a cheap enough price to make it 'worth a bash'. Fitted it last night and it certainly doesn't seem to work as I expected. Looking at the little caps inside that adjust how much injection you get I believe its on full whack (caps on the outer most positions). When driving all is completely normal, boost builds at the usual rate pulls exactly the same as it always did, until around 2800rpm when suddenly you feel a sharp boot up the backside and off it goes like a scalded cat. It spikes the boost up to ~19psi at the same time which upsets the ecu a bit. Does anybody on here have any experience with these, and is there a way of making the power a bit more progressive instead of in a big lump high up the rev range? I am saving for a decent map seeing as I already have a decat and allisport intercooler, this was just too cheap to pass up and have a go with. Thanks in advance guys

Is it one of those that plugs into the fuel pressure sensor?

all of the ones I have come across basically lower the reading from the fuel rail pressure sensor to fool the ECU into upping fuel pressure, some are better than others, sounds like yours is either faulty, or isn't exactly linear.
have you opened it up/read the instructions, most have some sort of adjustment, from a "digital" scale to jumpers to lower the pressure a little.

They are not a remap, so don't expect a fully smooth delivery, it takes more than extra fuel to do that.
 
No, its one of these that piggybacks off the ecu wiring. I had one that plugged into the fuel pressure sensor loom on a 2.2 diesel civic and the jump wasn't as pronounced but it was spread across the rev range a bit more instead of in a big lump. I shall have to have a fiddle with the settings in it a bit and see if reducing the power setting makes any noticeable difference. Worst case scenario it'll go on ebay and add a bit more to the remap fund

Yeah, very much haha. Makes overtaking fun but hills are still a mare unless you rev the nuts out of it all the time to keep the power there. Going to see if I can tweak it a bit on lunch break and see if its any better on the way home
 
never tried one of those, pretty sure all they do is mimic readings in some of the sensors to fool the ECU into increasing fuelling etc, it might even be increasing the boost, but at the wrong revs.
Proper remap is the way to go, and find somwhere that does proper ones, not just an out of the box one.
another local... prolly exchanged waves, mines the blue 110 with the spare on the bonnet....
 
I'm not too sure which it is. I imagine an older variant as it's not a plug and play and involves splicing into the ecu loom to fit. Was a second hand purchase
 
There's two places I'd be considering for a remap on mine. Bell Auto Services because I've heard nothing but good things about their Land Rover work and they have facilities for live mapping, and RS Tuning....simply because I've used them before and they did a damn good job of making my diesel Civic rather nippy. Definitely swaying towards the guys at Bell though because of their product knowledge.....all in good time though!
