Hi, On my 2013 Puma I have tried 5 different grease guns on the front propshaft UJ nipples,
none will go near them due to limited space and the angle of the nipple.
Any ideas what type of gun others use ?
I do not want to remove the shaft just to grease it unless I have to.
Cheers,
Brylton.

Has somebody fitted a UJ in backwards so that the grease nipple is not at the right angle?
Or have you tried the rotating the prop around to allow easier access with the grease gun?

Cheers

They are a pig. I adjusted the nipples to the best possible position for getting the grease gun on, and rotate the props to get the best possible access. Still a pig but gets the grease in, usually after a few goes and mop up the excess which inevitably escapes.

You can get extended nipples.

Some of the modern grease gun ends need a seeing to with an angle grinder to thin the first 10mm down.

Flex hose is way better than the fixed steel version on the grease gun.

Can you get a photo of how the nipple is positioned?

I’ve bought extra long grease nipples & remove the originals, screw these in, grease the UJ’s then replace the long ones for the originals

I found grinding a couple of flats on the end of the grease gun was the best way forward. Also, after chocking the wheels I put the xfer box in neutral and jack one wheel, you should then be able to rotate the prop for that axle to get to the spot in the rotation with the best clearance for the nipple.

Hi ,
Thank you all who offered help, I will try your advice at the weekend.
Cheers, Brylton.

I use an old fashones press on grease gun for the one difficult nipple on mine that I cannot actual get the end of a grease gun onto. the old style ones are a little messier as they do not seal over the nipple but it works and is far easier than dropping the prop or faffing about swapping nipples over. Just requires a bit of a wipe down afterwards to remove the exxcess.

Mine is like this (pic from google):

the end is just a domed recess you have to hold tight against the nipple with one hand and then press the plunger with the other.
