Hi All

Had a failure on the MOT for the propshaft.
VCU is fine but needed to replace universal joints and both centre bearings.
Took out the whole thing to work on in the garage to make it easier.
Replaced the UJs and the bearing on the rear propshaft no problems - came apart without too much effort.
bBut cannot get the front separated from the VCU where the UJ point is to replace the bearing.
Anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions?

Important that the bolt is adjusted so that the cold chisel sits on both sides of the UJ or it won't work. Support the uj on a block of wood and sharp smack with hammer. Soaking will help.
Refit using copper grease or similar.

Thanks for replying. Already tried that, rear came off as easily as the video, front just won't budge from the VCU. Soaked in WD40 to see if that would help but it just won't have it.
You are either missing, or lacking in 1 component. Aggression.

It needs maximum aggression to separate. Tools need to be bouncing and flying around the garage to get them apart.

What do you mean when you say the VCU is fine? Have you tested it?

Thanks. Not through a lack of trying - as proven by the massive bruised lump on my hand (a mis-timed swing with the club hammer) 🤣🤣
I've left it to soak in WD40 overnight and will go nuclear on it tomorrow.

Hi All
Thanks for your advice.
Brute force alone didn't work.
Got a gas gun on it, heated it up and then gave it a few more whacks and hey presto!
