Hi all wanted to rebuild my disco2 td5 front propshaft, and saw a great write up on discovery2 web site. As i scoured e bay for the bearings, i found a kit with the all important centering bearing in it (3 u/js and centering bearing) all for about £65. This seemed resonable enough to me especially that they were gkn manufactured, however the u/j,s are with rubber seals and not metal ones like the ones fitted on car now. Are these OK or should i try and source individually. Comments would be great Cheers Mark

be fine :) stick them in

the rear one is the same TVB000150, the front is not

Sorry, I meant front propshaft.

I notice that a td5 front prop looks just like a very expensive double cardon that you can buy off the shelf, all you have to do is "change the front output flange"

was just wondering if td5 front prop & flange would fit a disco 1.

I inspected one the other day and methinks it might ;)

cheers, sam

Those new GKN UJ's are excellant, the new type with the rubbers "built in" are far less fiddly than the ones with the metal seals in them, those metal seals / washers can EASILY be damaged and also cut into the rubber washer during installation. The new type are easier to install as well, can do a TD5 prop in 20 mins with those UJ's.

I would assume the link you seen on Ebay is from JGS4x4, very good ebay sellar..............Just wonder where he saw which centering bearing to include in his kit
