Proper Body Paint for 1956 Ser 1

Hello:
I am restoring my series 1, which was in Bronze Green.
I was told that the original paint was a coach enamel that was spayed on, as opposed to a cellulose / lacquer based that was used on most vintage cars. Is there any truth to that?

Can anyone help me source the right paint?

More likely the other way around,that's why older vehicles fade badly it was just cellulose.

Tekaloid coach enamel was what I repainted my 86" Series 1 with.
local company Johnstons made it.
Do a web search for the paintman has good reputation for Landrover Paints.
Personally I use Paddocks paint brushed or rollered on.

You won’t get the original paint now. New regulations stopped the good stuff.
Synthetic enamels are probably the nearest you’ll get. Just about any paint has little regulation to its content as long as it meets the environmental regs. The title Enamel used to refer to a finer grade of solids that gave a better finish but who knows these days.
I have been using one recently that has a rust inhibitor added but not much benefit on alloy.
Colours can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer as well. The sandstone from HMG sold through paddocks looks fine until compared to the original.

I use Tekaloid synthetic enamel.
Got all mine from Smith and Allen.
Very good price and service.
