L322 Prop shaft Fabrication

Is it worth getting the rear prop shaft fabricated, rather than paying silly money to the stealers or dealers, as it's OEM only? Having spoken to the guys who will be replacing it, one of them had a company Miami prop fabrication a prop shaft for his RRS but it wasn't up to standard. As he had already had an earlier one made which also wasn't up to standard, he's obviously not a fan of fabrication but it's not a route I've written off completely........yet

just got my gbs zero build set up in the garage and eagerly awaiting to put the diff, prop and drive shafts in The only problem i have is i dont have a propshaft and according to gbs its better to fit it before you put the diff in. GBS dont know when they will have any in next and i want one pretty soonish Anyone know if the gbs propshaft (MT75) is different to that westfields or other kit car manufactures. If so is there anywhere i could get one fabricated?

As you've quoted me I feel obliged to answer. My answer is it's been 7 years and I truly cannot remember what we did. All I can add is the chap I spoke to was not happy with Miami, so maybe don't use them?

I replaced the prop shaft on my 2008 L322 as I was sure it was the cause of a vibration I was feeling. $1000CAD. Unfortunately it turned out to be worn links in the rear suspension. The driveshaft has CV joints at each end, not simple cross pieces. To replace the driveshaft you have to remove the exhaust system. If you try to remove the nuts at the exhaust manifolds there is a danger of breaking the studs. I cut my exhaust just a few inches behind the catalytic converters. Used sleeves that bolt around the pipes to reconnect. Will eventually get the pipes welded.
